2, 2015- Nepal Police said that an Indian national identified as Ashish Kumar
Ram, 25, was killed in a clash with protesters at Nepal-India border in Birgunj
Sub Metropolitan City on Monday.
The
Indian man, a temporary resident of Birgunj-11, died at the Miteri bridge,
while the police used force to contain the situation after protesters rained
stones at the security personnel during a demonstration, Nepal Police said in a
statement on Monday.
Ram,
who sustained bullet injuries during the clash, was rushed to Narayani
Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj, where he was declared dead.

Nepal Police, the protesters became more violent after the security personnel
resorted to baton-charge and fired teargas shells to contain the situation
after the protesters torched the office of Maiti Nepal at border and Inarwa
police.
“Ram
sustained bullet when the police took to firing to take the situation under
control as the violence spiralled out of control,” the police statement read.
Likewise, six police personnel and eight demonstrators were injured during the
clash. The security personnel have been receiving treatment at local medicals,
while the protesters were taken to Narayani Sub-regional Hospital.
A
joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force brought the situation under
control.
