What is Vijayadashami or Dasain? Malshree? Happy Vijayadashami or Dasain

Hi All,
Happy Vijayadashami or Dasain.

Have you read abour Dasain! May be you heard Dasai Music but, never know about what music is it. Its called MALSHREE. you can listen on video. Just click on video down.
...
Vijayadashami (विजयादशमी) or Dasain (दशैं) is the biggest festival of the year in Nepal that falls in September/October and is celebrated by Hindu and non-Hindu Nepalis. Among the Newars, it is known as Mohani. The 10th day of Dasain is Vijayadashami, on which elders put Tika and Jamara on the forehead of younger members of the family. Jamara is sown on the first day of the festival which becomes greenish yellow of about 10–20 cm length which represent symbol of victory. Some ethnic groups receive Tika and Jamara only on the 10th day whereas others continue to receive until the following full moon. Depending upon the relationship, people offer 'Dakshina' after receiving the Tika and Jamara. On the eighth day of the festival, people offer sacrifice of goats, buffalo, chicken etc. to goddess Durga. Meat is heavily consumed after the sacrifice taken as the gift of god. People visit their relatives and exchange greetings throughout the 15 days of the festival. Temples of goddess Durga are crowded throughout the days of the festival in different parts of the country. For many people and specially children, buying of new clothes bears special importance. Since the expenditure during the days of the festival is significant, many poor people find it difficult to manage. Nepal observes the longest holidays of the year and highest mobility of the people during these days as people visit their relatives. In the past, until the fall of Monarchism in 2008, the only Hindu Monarch on the Planet, the King of Nepal, used to put tika on the foreheads of the people.

UK advise UK citizen about traveling to Nepal (Nepal song Video included)

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to the northern parts of the following districts of Nepal (as shown on the map):
  • Gorkha (including the Manaslu trekking region)
  • Rasuwa (including the Langtang Valley trekking region)
  • Sindhupalchok
  • Dolakha
Disagreements arising from Nepal’s new constitution have led to protests and strikes in Nepal with many turning violent in the Terai districts, leading to multiple fatalities. All curfews have now been lifted. Listen to announcements from local authorities and take advice from your tour company.
Protests can occur at short notice and turn violent. Clashes between protesters and police may occur anywhere, including at border crossings. Stay away from protest areas. Delays at border crossings have caused a fuel shortage and may affect travel.
Delays at border crossings have caused a severe fuel shortage which is affecting travel and provision of some emergency services. Consult your tour operator before you travel.
Major earthquakes on 25 April (epicentre Gorkha district) and 12 May (epicentre Sinhupalchok district) caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure. Main roads across Nepal are open, but road conditions are poor.
Nepal is in a major earthquake zone and remains at risk from further earthquakes, aftershocks, landslides and flooding. You should familiarise yourself with safety procedures in the event of an earthquake; the risks to personal safety are likely to be higher in the areas to which the FCO advise against all but essential travel.
The monsoon season normally runs from June to September. Flooding and landslides often occur during this time. Road travel anywhere can be hazardous, particularly in rural areas and in those parts of the country to which the FCO advise against all but essential travel. See Natural disasters
Seek local advice from your tour operator, the tourist police or the Nepal Tourism Board on whether it’s safe to travel, particularly on remote trekking routes away from the main roads. Make sure any vehicle you travel in is equipped to deal with the risk of landslides (eg winches, ropes).
Never trek alone. Use a reputable agency, remain on established routes and walk with at least one other person. Take note of weather conditions and forecasts, and come prepared. Altitude sickness is a risk in all trekking regions. See Trekking in Nepal.
All airports are open and both international and domestic flights are operating as normal. All air carriers from Nepal have been refused permission to operate air services to the EU due to safety concerns. See Safety and security
There is a general threat from terrorism. See Terrorism
Around 40,000 British nationals visited Nepal in 2013. Most visits are trouble-free.
The Overseas Business Risk service offers information and advice for British companies operating overseas on how to manage political, economic, and business security-related risks.
Take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel. If you are intending to travel at altitude, check that your insurance policy provides cover.

How to create GIF animated photo using Photoshop

Easy steps to make GIF file on Photoshop
Creating an animated GIF essentially means ‘stitching’ different images together to create an animation. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will create this animation:

Step 1: Copy all four pictures into a separate folder.

Step 2: Import Files into Photoshop

Go to File -> Scripts -> Load Images into Stack

On the next screen, select ‘Folder’ then browse to the folder you just created.

Hit OK. Photoshop will now import all your images into separate layers, like this:

Now that we have all our images loaded into Photoshop, we can set about creating out animation.

Want to use Photoshop to create art instead of funny GIFs? Try this course on Photoshop for Artists to get started.

Step 3: Create the Animation

The animation process in Photoshop can be accessed through the ‘Timeline’ window. Open it by going to Window -> Timeline.

A new window pane will pop up at the bottom. There will be a single button in the center of this pane. Click on the dropdown arrow next to this button and select ‘Create Frame Animation’, like this:

You should now see one of the images in in the Timeline window. You’ll also notice a little dropdown menu in the top right corner of the window. Click on it and select “Create New Layer for Each Frame”

Nothing happened, right?

But that’s because we haven’t actually added our images to the animation. To do this, open the same menu again and click on ‘Make Frames From Layers’.

This basically creates a new frame for each of the layers you have in the Layers panel. You’ll notice that your Timeline window now has all four of your images.

You can now reposition and resize individual images so that they fit in the same canvas size (hit CTRL + T). Once you have the right size and position, you can click on the arrow below each image and select the delay between subsequent slides.

For the purpose of this animation, I choose the duration as 0.5 seconds. You can also choose from the preset duration or enter your own by selecting ‘Other..’

You can also select the order of the images by dragging individual slides into different positions.

There’s another dropdown menu below the slides that says ‘Once’. This controls how many times the animation should repeat. Click open this menu and select ‘Forever’ for an endlessly looping animation.

After you’re done, click on the ‘Play’ button on this toolbar to preview your animation.

Confused by this step? Learn the foundations of Photoshop in this course to clear away your doubts.
Step 4: Saving Your Animation

In this final step, you will save your animation as a GIF. The easiest way to do this is to press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + S, or go to File -> Save for Web…

In the window that pops up, select ‘GIF’ as the format. There will be a preset menu above this. Choose ‘GIF 128 Dithered’.

Two things to note here:

128 refers to the amount of colors in the GIF. GIF is a low quality image format. It cannot faithfully reproduce the colors of a JPEG. Its maximum color range is 256 colors, vs 16M for JPEG. Therefore, the higher number you select, the better the quality of the GIF. Be warned though: better quality GIFs are also slower to load. Keep that in mind if you are using large image animations on the web.

Dithering is a process in GIF processing that reduces banding in gradients. It makes the resultant image appear much better, but also increases file size dramatically. In an image like the one we used above, dithering is essential. For images in a few solid colors, however, it is recommended that you deselect dithering.

Click on ‘Save’ to save the image. Now open it in your web browser – you should see the animation on an endless loop.

This was easy enough – but what if you want to make a GIF from an existing video?

There’s a solution for that as well.

Steve Ballmer takes 4 percent stake in Twitter, owns more than CEO

Former Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has taken a 4 percent stake in Twitter Inc (TWTR.N), according to his spokesman, making him the third-biggest individual shareholder in the social media company.

Ballmer's stake is worth more than $800 million based on Twitter's $21 billion market value. Only co-founder Evan Williams and Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal have greater stakes among individual investors.

Shares of Twitter rose 5.6 percent to $31.34 on Friday, hours after Ballmer tweeted from a non-verified account that he built up his stake over the past several months.

His tweet lauded Twitter's new 'Moments' feature, which curates the best tweets of the day, and Dorsey's appointment as permanent CEO last week.

"Good job @twitter, @twittermoments innovation, @jack Ceo, leaner, more focused," the tweet said. "Glad I bought 4% past few months."

Twitter declined to comment. Ballmer himself did not return requests for comment.

Ballmer, who bought the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team after retiring as Microsoft CEO in February 2014, has a personal fortune of about $21.5 billion, making him the 35th richest person in the world, according to Forbes magazine.

However, his backing as an investor is no guarantee of success for Twitter. Ballmer famously laughed at Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) first iPhone, and shares of Microsoft declined over the 14 years of his leadership.

Ballmer now owns more of Twitter than co-founder and CEO Dorsey, who has a 3.2 percent stake, according to Thomson Reuters data. Williams is the largest individual shareholder with about 7.5 percent, followed by Alwaleed with about 5.2 percent.

Like @alwaleedbinT move too," Ballmer's tweet said. Alwaleed and his investment firm, Kingdom Holding Co 4280.SE, said earlier this month they had raised their stake in Twitter to more than 5 percent.

Ballmer's investment is a sign that Twitter's efforts to revive growth under Dorsey is being appreciated, Monness, Crespi, Hardt, & Co Inc analyst James Cakmak said.

"I think it's just another point of evidence that the step that they are taking to redirect the business toward growth is resonating," Cakmak said.

Twitter has made several new announcements since Dorsey, who also served as CEO in 2008, returned on a permanent basis last week. On Tuesday, Twitter said it will lay off about 8 percent of its workforce and on Wednesday, it hired Google Inc (GOOGL.O) executive Omid Kordestani as executive chairman.

FBN Securities analyst Shebly Seyrafi said Ballmer's stake could be indicative of widespread confidence in Dorsey and his strategy.

"It depends on the timing of his investment. I'm not sure how much of his 4 percent was acquired before Dorsey was appointed interim or permanent CEO."
